Responsibilities
As an Emergency RVT, you’ll play a critical role in providing top-tier care for urgent and critical cases. Your responsibilities will include:
Apply your expertise in emergency medicine, critical care, and anesthesia to stabilize and treat patients in urgent need.
Utilize your technical skills to perform procedures such as venipuncture, IV catheter placement, medication administration, radiography, patient prep and recovery, and anesthesia monitoring.
Provide attentive nursing care for critical, non-ambulatory, and trauma patients, including monitoring and physiotherapy when appropriate.
Obtain and review detailed patient histories and communicate effectively with clients during high-stress situations.
Maintain accurate medical records and ensure seamless collaboration with veterinarians and the broader care team.
Assist in triage, patient assessment, and emergency procedures, always advocating for patient comfort and safety.

Qualifications
Registered Veterinary Technician licensure required with the Eastern Veterinary Technicians Association (EVTA) and Nova Scotia Veterinary Medical Association (NSVMA)
2+ years of experience (preferably in ER and/or critical care)
Experienced in inpatient care, lab work, radiology, and critical thinking under pressure
A compassionate team player who thrives in a collaborative setting
A natural communicator who builds trust with clients and colleagues
Detail-oriented, dependable, and eager to learn and grow
