Nurse Practitioner

• Experience
• 3 years experience as an RN in primary care, public health or acute care
• One year experience in community needs assessment/development/health promotion

• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Demonstrates knowledge of community services, programs, and resources
• Knowledge in population health promotion and its relationship to health status
• Knowledge of common medical conditions and treatments.
• Demonstrates ability to assess the community for primary care needs
• Recognizes the need for holistic care for individuals, families, and groups
• Decision making through the application of knowledge and critical thinking
• Demonstrates ability in verbal and non-verbal communication techniques
• Demonstrates leadership and organizational skills
• Demonstrates ability to show initiative and self-direction
• Demonstrates ability to accept and implement change
• Demonstrates empathy, trust and respect in the provision of care
• Knowledge in individual assessment and counselling skills
• Ability to apply methods and principles of nursing process

• Other Education & Training
• Certification in Primary Care Nurse Practitioner or equivalent program required
• Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate (BCLS)
• Willing to become certified in Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT) upon position start

• Other Information
• Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
• Possession of and ability to maintain current registration as RN (NP) with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS).
• Requires a valid driver’s license. May require access to a vehicle for work.
