Provide psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment interventions to individuals, families, and groups within an oncology setting. Collaborate with inter-professional teams to provide consultations, conduct research, and supervise psychology trainees.
Requires a Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychology and registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology. Candidates should demonstrate experience in inpatient and community settings and the ability to manage complex clinical presentations and crisis situations.
3-Jul-26About the Opportunity Psychologists work individually and on teams to provide psychological assessment, diagnosis and treatment intervention to individuals, families and groups. They provide consultations to hospital staff. Psychologists engage in research and program evaluation. Psychologists develop and evaluate new assessment, treatment programs and services to better meet patient needs. Psychologists teach and supervise psychology trainees and other health profession learners. Psychologists utilizes discipline specific skills, knowledge, related clinical experiences and abilities to provide psychological assessments, care planning, direct clinical interventions (individual and group) and consultation to staff on complex cases and psychological issues across all areas. Although most psychologists engage in all of these activities, they differ in the proportion of time allocated to each. The broad percentage ranges below reflect this variability. Mental Health Psychologists work with patients with primarily mental health problems. Geriatric Psychologists work with the elderly with mental health, medical or cognitive problems. Health Psychologists address psychological issues associated with medical disorders or diseases. Neuropsychologists focus on human behavior as it is affected by abnormal functioning of the central nervous system.About You We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
Masters or Doctoral Degree in Psychology – Registered Psychologist or Candidates Register, Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology To work collaboratively in an inter-professional team setting Evidence of skills and interests in the field of additions an asset. Experience in both inpatient and community-based settings, including in community settings other than clinics. Problem-solving skills and tolerance for the challenges inherent in working with clients who have a complex and chronic clinical presentation. Demonstrates the ability to manage crisis situations in a confident, proactive, level-headed and collaborative manner Demonstrates leadership style developing and/or in place, such they can confidently and diplomatically inspire the confidence and support of colleagues Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
