Qualifications

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Member in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta. Minimum three years’ recent experience in pediatrics and mental health is required. Preferred experience as a Nurse in Charge Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Preferred experience in crisis intervention and de-escalation. Knowledge of the Health Information and Protection of Privacy Information Acts in addition to professional organization’s ethics and standards of practice. Familiarity with electronic medical records or similar information systems. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks appropriately. Demonstrated ability to adapt to new and/or changing situations. Flexibility and skill with interpersonal situations.

Conditions of Employment

A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate. A satisfactory Child Intervention Check. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or exemption on the basis of a protected legal ground. Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA), as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.
