Overview

Position Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant will perform delegated clinical and administrative duties consistent with Medical Assistant program education, training, and experience. May work in both the clinical and front office functions of the practice providing clerical support, assisting in the delivery of health care and patient care support activities at the direction of the physician/provider. Performs the duties in accordance with the specific needs of the practice. Qualifications

Required qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED AND Must have completed a Medical Assistant training program

  • Program equivalency: at least 6 months experience in Certified Medical Assistant role OR proof of completion of on-the-job training/education program for certified medical assisting in another healthcare organization.

  • ONE of the following approved certifying agencies: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), earning Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential American Medical Technologists (AMT) or American Allied Health (AAH), earning Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), earning a National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) credential National HealthCare Association (NHA), earning Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) credential National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), earning a Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) credential

Preferred Qualifications

Experience: Previous experience as a medical office assistant or CNA or equivalent, previous experience with electronic health records or phlebotomy. Licensure/ Certification: If working in the Rural Health Clinic setting, will be required to have BLS through the American Heart Association. MOA REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School Diploma/ GED Experience: Minimum of six months’ experience with computer, Microsoft Office, and email. Minimum of 6 months’ health care facility clinical experience. OR Clinical education (including evidence of current enrollment or completion of OSF Medical Group Prime Path Bridge Program OR Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program. Other Skills/ Knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Some knowledge of medical terminology.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience: Completion of a medical assistant program or equivalent. Minimum of six months’ experience as a medical office assistant (MOA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or equivalent. Minimum of six months’ experience with an electronic health record.
