Provide assessment, treatment, and consultation services for children and youth within Keewaytinook Okimakanak communities. Deliver in-person therapy during community visits and provide follow-up care via telemedicine.
Requires a Master's degree in Psychology and licensure to provide psychotherapy in Ontario. Must have experience working with First Nation communities and be a permanent resident of Canada.
The Behavioural Therapist in this position is primarily responsible for the assessment, treatment, and consultation services required as part of the Keewaytinook Okimakanak (KO) and community Child First Team— serving children from birth to 17 years of age. There is a significant focus on providing specialized mental health and wellness services that are culturally sensitive, safe, accessible, and timely within the KO communities. The therapist will provide in-person therapeutic services for people in the KO communities. Utilizing a person-centered approach to therapy/counselling, Therapists are able to support individuals (children and youth) experiencing a wide range of bio-psycho-social challenges.
The Behavioural Therapist will travel to 5 KO communities for one week four times a year— split between our current BT— and will use telemedicine to provide follow-up, consultation, teaching, and reassessment when not in the communities.
The Behavioural Therapist reports directly to and works under the administrative supervision of the Jordan's Principle Coordinator and the KO Health Director
Participate in and accept supervision/feedback from the Jordan’s Principle Coordinator and the KO Health Director
