The Position The Food Service Worker supports the operation of Housing Services food programs by assisting with meal preparation, attending to kitchen safety and cleanliness, and collaborating with staff and residents to ensure nutritious meals are available daily.
The role contributes to creating a welcoming, safe, and efficient kitchen that meets health and safety standards and promotes resident well-being.
Overview •
Grade 12.
Recent, related experience of six (6) months.
Certificate in related field.
Familiarity with harm reduction and Housing First approaches.
Awareness of street culture and the needs of residents exiting homelessness.
Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office, email, and kitchen inventory systems.
Valid driver’s license.
Current Food Safe Certificate Level I.
Ability to pass Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Record Check clearance.
Ability to work in a commercial kitchen within a residential housing program.
Ability to work in environments with active substance use with appropriate safety awareness.
Physical ability to climb stairs and lift up to 80 lbs; ability to work in warm, humid conditions
