Preferred education in Developmental or Human Services and experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or mental health challenges. Must possess a valid Ontario G/G2 license, reliable vehicle, First Aid/CPR certification, and a clear Vulnerable Sector Screening.
Community Living Sarnia-Lambton (CLSL) is a charitable, not-for-profit, unionized organization dedicated to enriching the lives of people who have an intellectual disability. CLSL currently provides support and services to more than 300 individuals and their families, promoting individual choice, inclusion, independence, and personal achievement.
CLSL is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Individual Support Employee (ISE) - Employer Directed to provide one-on-one support for an individual with a dual diagnosis, including developmental disabilities and mental health challenges. Working closely with the individual, their family, and the Activity Centre Supervisor, the successful candidate will help create meaningful opportunities that support personal goals, independence, community participation, and overall well-being. The Individual Support Employer Directed will assist with daily routines, community outings, skill development, behavioural support strategies, and participation in CLSL Day Program activities while fostering a safe, respectful, and person-centred environment.
Education in Developmental Services, Human Services, PSW, Social Services, or related field preferred. Previous experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, dual diagnosis, autism, or behavioural needs. Strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills. Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations. Experience using positive behaviour supports, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques is considered an asset. Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with supervisors and team members. Experience Previous experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, dual diagnosis, mental health challenges, autism, or behavioural needs. Experience implementing behavioural support strategies and positive behaviour supports is considered an asset. Experience working independently and within a team environment.
Valid Ontario G or G2 Driver's Licence. Reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance. Ability to transport individuals when required. Current Standard First Aid and CPR Certification. Safe Management Certification Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
