The Edmonton Vocational Services team are passionate about enriching the health of their clients through a holistic approach, as the Occupational Therapist you will play a vital role in delivering care within a progressive and collaborative atmosphere.

This role is full time and permanent located in our Edmonton Mira clinic there will be some local travel required.

Your impact

  • You will facilitate a safe, timely, and sustainable return to work for employees after injury, illness, or disability by analyzing the intersection of the worker's functional abilities and the job's demands. In this role, you will:
  • Evaluate the worker's physical, cognitive, and psychological functions, as well as job demands and workplace environment
  • Develop tailored plans to help workers return to their pre-injury roles or alternative work.
  • Design personalised programs to enhance job readiness, promote physical health and increase the chances of long-term employment success
  • Perform clinical evaluations, provide exercises, functional tasks, and cognitive strategies (e.g., pacing, energy conservation) to address injury-related deficits.
  • Teach techniques like mindfulness, relaxation, and sleep hygiene to manage pain, fatigue, and emotional distress.
  • Provide education to the client and employer about the recovery process, the benefits of staying connected to work, and their roles in the plan.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Knowledge of current Occupational Therapy standards, modalities and scope of practice; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
    • Registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists in your province.
    • 1-3 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist is preferred
    • Newly Licensed Graduates are accepted
    • Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle may be required

    Other Requirements

    • Clinical experience is an asset in areas such as brain injury/neurological rehabilitation, mental health, musculoskeletal/orthopedic injury, home safety, ergonomics and/or return to work.

    • Superior interpersonal relations, communication, problem-solving, time management, computer and documentation skills
    • Proficiency in computer skills
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
