POSITION SUMMARY In keeping with the mission statement of the hospital and the patient service unit, the nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for individual patients/families. Effectively uses the nursing process Practices according to the standards set by the College of Nurses of Ontario, the Hospital, and the patient service unit Provides appropriate learning experiences for the patient and family to promote or maintain wellness, and to achieve an optimal quality of life Is accountable for maintaining competence while developing the quality of his/ her professional nursing practice QUALIFICATIONS Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential) Current Certification of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (Essential) Current CPR Certification (Essential) Two (2) years paediatric surgery experience (Preferred) Operating Room Technique from an approved facility (Essential) Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills (Essential) Demonstrated culturally sensitive approach to nursing care (Essential) Demonstrated strong family centered care skills (Essential) Bilingual (English/ French) (Preferred) Baccalaureate Degree of Nursing (Preferred) *Please note you will be represented by the Ontario Nurses Association, (ONA). Effective March 29, 2021, CHEO will conduct a more comprehensive pre-screening and evaluation process. This process may include more varied and multidimensional testing such as a written test, practical exam, or other assessment. All candidates who meet the essential and preferred qualifications may be tested. Bilingualism (French/English) will be validated by a language proficiency assessment conducted by a third party provider. Candidates will be required to meet the minimum linguistic profile prior to the date of hire.
