POSITION SUMMARY A psychologist is required to provide psychological services to children and youth treated for oncological conditions. Services to be provided include behavioural, and social-emotional assessment, cognitive, psycho-diagnostic assessment, and individual and group education and therapy. The Psychologist will function as part of an interdisciplinary oncology service. They will have a large role in the implementation of patient and family education groups as well as activities related to research, program development, and program evaluation. JOB DESCRIPTION Provide comprehensive psychological assessment, with a focus on diagnostic formulation and delineating the interplay between health and mental health issues. Offer consultation and treatment services for patients undergoing treatment for cancer – (active treatment or follow up) Liaison with other health care professionals with regard to assessment findings, recommendations, and their implications for the management of the child/youth. Liaise with community services (ex: schools) Provide supervision/training of pre-doctoral psychology interns and offer learning opportunities to other student professionals in training. Assist and collaborate with program evaluation and development of research projects that reflect the interdisciplinary nature of the clinical services provided by the team. Collaborate with Psychologists to assist with coverage and backup during vacations and exceptionally busy times QUALIFICATIONS Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential) Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from a CPA or APA accredited clinical psychology program (Essential) Registration as a Psychologist in Ontario or eligibility for registration as a Psychologist (Essential) Designated practice as a psychologist in the area of Clinical Psychology with children and adolescents (Essential) Knowledge with regard to the interplay between health, mental health and pediatric traumatic stress (Essential) Experience in health psychology (Essential) Experience in the provision of comprehensive psychological assessments (including cognitive, behavioural and personality measures to a paediatric medical and mental health population (Essential) Experience in providing psychological intervention to children with complex medical and mental health conditions (Essential) Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with other health professionals (Essential) Bilingual – Fluency in both French and English (Preferred) Supervision experience (Preferred) This assignment may be extended or shortened based on operational needs.
