The Float Team nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for pediatric patients and their families. They provide flexible coverage for immediate needs or long-term vacancies across various hospital units.
Candidates must have current CNO registration, CPR certification, and a Vulnerable Sector Check. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing and at least two years of pediatric experience are preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY In keeping with CHEO’s mission statement, the Float Team nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for individual patients/families. Working for the Float Team is an opportunity to develop a broad range of pediatric skills. Float Team members may be assigned to cover “just in time” needs or longer-term vacancies throughout the hospital. The Float Team nurse practices according to the standards of practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario and in compliance with CHEO’s policies and procedures. QUALIFICATIONS Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) (Essential) Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification (Essential) Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BScN) (Preferred) Minimum two (2) years of pediatric experience (Preferred) Family-centered approach (Essential) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (Essential) Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential) Bilingualism (English/French) (Preferred) New hires to the Float Team will receive necessary support from the designated Clinical Resource Nurse. *Please note you will be represented by the Ontario Nurses Association (ONA). Effective March 29, 2021, CHEO will conduct a more comprehensive pre-screening and evaluation process. This process may include more varied and multidimensional testing such as a written test, practical exam, or other assessment. All candidates who meet the essential and preferred qualifications may be tested. Bilingualism (French/English) will be validated by a language proficiency assessment conducted by a third party provider.
