Position scope
- The Respite Personal Support Worker (Respite PSW) provides safe, respectful, culturally grounded respite and personal support services to community members in their homes and community settings. The role supports clients to maintain comfort, safety, dignity, and independence while providing temporary relief to family caregivers. The Respite PSW works in alignment with community policies, care plans, and relevant health and safety standards.

- QUALIFICATIONS: Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate (or equivalent combination of education, training, and related experience deemed acceptable by the Employer). Minimum 1–2 years’ experience providing personal care/respite support to Elders, adults with disabilities, or individuals requiring assistance with ADLs (home and community settings preferred). Demonstrated ability to provide client-centred, trauma-informed, culturally safe care. Experience working within a First Nation community and/or with Indigenous clients is considered an asset.
Key responsibilities
- Provide respite support to clients to relieve family/caregivers while maintaining client safety and comfort. Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), which may include bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, continence care, transfers, positioning, and mobility assistance according to the client’s needs and care direction. Support safe meal preparation and nutrition support related to client care (e.g., preparing simple meals, assisting with feeding where required, encouraging hydration).
