Provides basic nursing care and technical support within the Interventional Platform, including patient positioning and mobilization. Responsible for preparing operating rooms, managing equipment supplies, and transporting patients and specimens.
Requires Grade 10 education and graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of experience. Must possess the physical ability to perform duties and effective communication skills.

Reporting to the Manager, Clinical Services (OR), and under the direction of a Registered Nurse, works as a member of an interprofessional care team, and following established care plans and patient centered care, to support nursing / technical staff within the Interventional Platform. Provides appropriate basic nursing care and support to patients including assisting in preparing patients for procedures, assisting nursing and technical staff by supporting positioning of patients as required; assisting the patient care team with mobilization, lifting and transferring of patients on/off beds, stretchers and wheelchairs utilizing prescribed safe techniques and lifting practices; ensuring overall equipment and supplies for the Interventional Platform are available; assisting with the changeover of the operating rooms, cardiac catheterization laboratory and interventional radiology (IR) suites between procedures. Transports/escorts patients to/from required areas using stretchers and wheelchairs, ensures general equipment and supplies for operating rooms, cardiac catheterization laboratory and IR suites, are available, cleans the equipment and supply areas; maintains supplies for the platform carts and storage areas. Distributes materials, equipment and linen related to the platform as required.
Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience
Grade 10 plus graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant Program, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
