Since 1973, The Alex has been a community-based, not-for-profit organization providing integrated primary health care, community support services, and housing-focused programs to individuals and families who experience barriers to accessing traditional health, housing, and social service systems. Services are grounded in principles of health equity, low-barrier access, trauma-informed practice, cultural safety, harm reduction, and person-centered care.
The RAAM Program provides rapid, low barrier access to medical assessment and treatment for individuals experiencing substance use concerns. The program operates in coordination with primary care, mental health services, and community partners to support stabilization and continuity of care.
Reporting to the Program Manager, The RN (Registered Nurse) works to full scope of practice through the application of knowledge to “assist clients in meeting their health needs in whatever setting, complexity and situation they occur throughout the life span. Scope of practice includes all the interventions that registered nurses are authorized, educated and competent to perform. It is limited by the specific competencies of the individual registered nurse to perform the activities necessary for the client population with whom that nurse practice, within applicable legislation and requirements of the employers as described in employer policies.” — College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta, Scope of practice for Registered Nurses, 2011.
This is a permanent, full-time position.
