Role Expectations & Summary: Our Individuals at our Sandpiper Group Home are looking for a Community Support Worker professional.
This group home resides in Northwest area of Calgary.
Our Individuals living at our "Sandpiper" group home.
We are looking for Community Disability Practitioner for their daily need.
The expected diagnoses for the Individual are Autism and Developmental Delays.
Individual may display physical behaviour of concerns.
A behavioural support plan will be provided to advance and achieve Individual's goals.
The position requires to support Individuals with hygiene routines, meal preparation, g-tube feedings, house chores, getting groceries, and medication administration.
We are also looking for someone who is comfortable driving in all quadrants of Calgary.
This position will require driving and attending medical appointment, sports activity such as swimming, etc.
Looking for staff who is confident to work with autism and developmental delay.
With a passion for supporting people with disabilities, you will… Provide medical, technological, environmental, emotional, physical, and behavioural support Attend medical/legal appointments with the Individuals Administer daily documentation, medication of the Individual, and key worker duties Assist Individuals in their daily chores and activities within the community or in the group home Support safety and cleanliness of the Individual's living space Complete tasks such fire drills//hazard assessments Communicate with OPG/Guardians/Family Member Collaborate, advocate & research for the support Individual if necessary, such as hospitals if required Specific support to the Individuals on an ODP (Opioid Dependency Program) or O.A.T Drive to meet Individuals, or be able to transport them to activities(necessary) or appointments throughout the day Learn the behavioural support plans to better understand Individual needs and requirements.

Effectively complete required incident reports About you: You are compassionate, attentive, and passionate towards working with people with disabilities.
You are comfortable with providing full personal care, participating in social and recreational activities, advocating for the Individual in the community, and encouraging healthy living styles & social interactions.
You have a good knowledge of community events and activities that could be useful to integrate the Individuals.
You are professional, take ownership, and willing to follow agency's policies and procedures.
You are solution driven, where you can identify the need of support for the Individual's apprehensions/concerns.
You are willing to take the time to understand and know your Individual and act/respond in their best interest, while maintaining professional boundaries.
You have previous experience working with Individuals with disabilities; therefore, you are willing to research, develop, and implement programs to provide for growth the Individual.
You can easily manage administrative work to create rapports for the Individual.
Schedule & Benefits: This position is permanent 24 hr per week and the schedule will be Wednesday to Friday 7:00am- 3:00pm.
This position will be suitable for an individual with an adaptive personality, as there will be variety of tasks throughout the day.
The starting pay rate for this position will be $21.19 with potential of getting a raise after the annual evaluation.
After three months probationary period, you will be eligible for cost-shared health and dental benefits along with 6 flex days after the three months of employment.
As driving is a requirement, we reimburse the mileage at $0.50/km.
Minimum Requirements: Minimum of a Canadian Certificate/Diploma in the Human Services or Disability sector (equivalencies will be considered) Intermediate computer skills and MS Office proficiency Valid class 5 driver’s license and a reliable vehicle, with minimum $2,000,000 liability insurance by time of hire Comfortable supporting Individuals with diverse disabilities and complex diagnoses Preferred Requirements: One-year relevant experience in the human services field and/or prior experience in a fast-paced day program/outreach is preferred Previous experience with trauma, addiction, harm reduction and substance use Previous work experience in a group home would be an asset Having a medical background - whether professional or academic Current trainings including First Aid/CPR, Medication Administration, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Abuse Prevention Response Protocol, Positive Behaviour Supports, etc.
