Provide comprehensive care for individuals in a group home, ensuring their physical, social, educational, and health needs are met. Implement resident programs and advocate for individuals and families to obtain necessary supports.
Requires a Community Support Worker Certificate, First Aid/CPR, and Food Safe certifications. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and be able to perform physical lifts and transfers.
The Residence Worker provides care for the individuals in the group home and participates as part of the team responsible for implementing all aspects of the residents’ program, including the organization’s policies, procedures and philosophy. On both an individual and group basis, the Residence Worker supports the quality of life for residents by ensuring that their physical, social, educational and health needs are met.
Education, Training and Experience Community Support Worker Certificate or equivalent Three month’s experience delivering similar services Experience in supporting individuals with disabilities in a group home setting Valid First Aid and CPR certification Food Safe Certificate Class 5 driver’s license (Class 4 preferred) and own vehicle
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of theory, values and practices in community living including support systems Demonstrated ability to advocate, provide personalized support and teach life skills to residents Ability to work alone and unsupervised, as well as part of a team Ability to perform lifts and transfers of clients Effective interpersonal communication skills Basic computer skills preferably experience with Microsoft Office
