Deliver services to adults with disabilities living independently to help them function more effectively in their homes and community. Provide one-on-one and group activities focused on life skills development and advocacy.
Requires a Community Support Worker certificate, a valid Class 5 driver's license with a vehicle, and First Aid/CPR certification. Candidates must have experience working with individuals with disabilities and pass a criminal record search.
Under direction of the SILP Coordinator 2, the Community Support Worker is responsible for delivering services to individuals living independently under the Supported Independent Living Program. The C.S.W. supports adults with disabilities to function more independently in their homes and in the community. Deliver one on one and group activities that support the development of life skills. Evening and/or weekend work is often required. Activities may require a moderate level of physical fitness. Education, Training and Experience · Community Support Worker Certificate or equivalent education and experience · Three month’s experience delivering similar services · Experience working independently with individuals with disabilities · Experience in group process and facilitation techniques and in a community living setting · WCB approved First Aid and CPR certification · Class 5 driver license and own vehicle · Training in mental health and addictions an asset Qualifications, Skills and Abilities · Demonstrated ability to teach skills, provide individual client support, and leadership · Knowledge of theory, values and practices in community living · Effective interpersonal communication skills · Demonstrated ability to work alone and unsupervised, as well as part of a team · Demonstrated exceptional time and general management skills · Basic computer skills preferably experience with Microsoft Office
