The medical secretary will provide reception and administrative support to the Rapid Access Addiction Medicine clinic, including managing referrals and electronic medical records. The role involves triaging referrals, booking appointments across multiple sites, and delivering person-centred service to clients.
Candidates must have a secondary school diploma and a medical secretary certificate or equivalent experience, along with three to five years of office experience in a health setting. Strong alignment with trauma-informed care and the ability to work with vulnerable populations is essential.
Secondary school diploma, Medical Secretary certificate or equivalent relevant work experience; Three to five year’s office experience preferably in a health setting; Demonstrated ability to be flexible, organized, a self-starter, and possess excellent problem solving skills; Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service, perform well under stress, and deal with multiple demands and unpredictable delays. Demonstrates a professional and friendly manner and has experience dealing with the public in a way that is mature, sensitive and helpful both over the telephone and in person. Experience in a community-based primary health care setting, addictions, homelessness, and/or mental health is an asset. Strong understanding and alignment with the concepts of trauma-informed care and culturally safer care. Demonstrated experience working successfully with people who face significant barriers to care, including unhoused and underhoused, current and past substance use, living with mental health challenges and diagnoses, 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, etc. Drivers license and access to a vehicle is required
