The Nurse Practitioner will provide addiction medicine services within a Rapid Access Addiction Medicine clinic and deliver primary care for the Managed Alcohol Program. They will work as part of an interdisciplinary team to support vulnerable populations across the Thunder Bay area.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Certificate in the Extended Class from the College of Nurses of Ontario. Experience in community health, addictions, and harm reduction is required, along with a valid driver's license.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a recognized university. Certificate in the Extended Class from College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). Broad knowledge, background and interest in the practice of community health, addictions and harm reduction. Interested in providing Substance Use Health Care and supporting clients across the continuum of substance use. Knowledge and experience with current and emerging practices in addiction medicine prescribing and monitoring Knowledge of managed alcohol administration is an asset. Excellent communication, interpersonal and teaching skills. Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of community-based health care. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment. Ability to work at different sites with the Thunder Bay area Demonstrated experience working across all genders, with racialized populations, indigenous peoples, individuals who engage in sex work, individuals who are/have been incarcerated, people with mental health challenges, and people who have experienced trauma. Awareness of and sensitivity to health issues particularly within individuals who face barriers to accessing care (under housed, living with mental health challenges or diagnoses, current or past substance use, complex health histories, 2SLGBTQIA+, newcomers, non-insured). Valid driver’s license required and access to a vehicle.
