Externs will provide direct patient care under supervision, assisting with daily living activities and therapeutic interactions while performing basic clinical tasks like vital signs and specimen collection. They must accurately document care, communicate with supervising nurses, and support unit operations by maintaining clean and organized work areas.
Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program in Ontario, preferably in years 3 or 4, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration. Strong physical assessment skills, critical thinking, and an understanding of the mental health and addiction healthcare system are also required.

As a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse participating in the Clinical Extern Program, you will be an integral part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team focused on delivering seamless services and programs to our clients and customers. The pay for this position is $20.60 hourly, in accordance with the applicable collective agreement. Progression through the wage steps is governed by the terms of the collective agreement.
