Reporting to the Supervisor Health Programs, the Community Health Representative (CHR) position is to positively impact the health of Nunavummiut through upstream health promotion and illness prevention initiatives. Reporting to the Supervisor Health Programs (SHP) or the Nurse Manager, Iqaluit Public Health, with the support of community, regional, and territorial public and population health staff, the CHR provides evidence-based and culturally informed health promotion and behaviour change information and education to enhance the health and wellbeing of Nunavummiut. The CHR helps to bridge the health centre and the community, enhancing trust and understanding, leading the integration of IQ into public and population health work in communities, and collaborating in the development and implementation of culturally informed resources and research.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of experience working in a northern community. A satisfactory criminal record check and a clear vulnerable sector check are mandatory for this position.
