About the role

The Registered Practical Nurse provides professional nursing care, monitors resident health status, and administers medications and treatments. They also collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for residents.

The Opportunity

As a Registered Practical Nurse at Chartwell, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the health and well-being of our residents. Your clinical expertise, empathy, and commitment to a positive resident experience will help create a safe, welcoming environment where residents feel supported, valued, and cared for every day.

  • What You’ll Do
  • Provide professional nursing care in accordance with the provincial College of Nurses standards, legislative requirements, and Chartwell policies
  • Monitor residents’ health status, administer medications and treatments, and accurately document care
  • Support residents during their transition into the residence, ensuring they and their families feel comfortable and informed
  • Respond to resident or family concerns promptly, taking appropriate action or escalating as needed
  • Collaborate with allied health professionals, and the interdisciplinary team to deliver coordinated care
  • Provide leadership and guidance to personal support workers and other care staff
  • Participate in team meetings, care conferences, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
  • Promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment for residents, visitors, and staff
  • What You’ll Bring
  • Current registration and in good standing with the provincial College of Nurses
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Experience working in care, retirement, or healthcare (an asset)
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to engage with residents, families, and colleagues
  • A passion for delivering person-centered care and enhancing the resident experience

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening required
  • Physical ability to assist residents and perform tasks involving standing, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling
  • Preparedness to respond to emergency situations quickly and effectively
  • Clear Criminal Background Check, VSS and TB Test where required
