Balanced lifestyle What will you work on? The Clinical Psychologist is a key member of the Tertiary Mental Health Services team, responsible for delivering comprehensive psychological services, including assessment, individual and group therapy, and treatment planning. Working within a multidisciplinary and collaborative Allied Health framework, this role emphasizes a bio/psycho/social approach to care, integrating psychological insights into broader treatment plans and ensuring coordination with community agencies and other providers to support patient outcomes. This role offers the Clinical Psychologist an opportunity of working autonomously and independently while practicing assessment and psychotherapy with a population that tends to be diverse and more complex. Some responsibilities include:

Provides comprehensive psychological assessment services, utilizing standardized and evidenced based interview and assessment procedures.

Within a bio/psycho/social treatment model and working as part of a multidisciplinary team, incorporates psychological assessment results with the broader treatment plan.

Provides evidenced based (including behavioural and cognitive-behavioural) individual short-term therapy/counseling interventions.

Participates in client/patient conferences and team meetings as required and communicates pertinent information to all disciplines involved.

Supports an interdisciplinary approach to client/patient care and ensures coordination of services/programs with community agencies, other health care providers and special interest groups, by participating in interdisciplinary and interagency meetings for the purpose of collaboration around client/patient management, program planning, and discharge planning.

Provides consultation to the treatment team, clients/patients, family and/or community personnel, regarding management and/or treatment of mental, behavioural, adjustment and psychosocial disorders.

Evaluates effectiveness and appropriateness of treatment and resources by methods such as assessing client/patient functioning, identifying opportunities for change, and formulating recommendations for quality improvement to ensure optimal outcomes are met.

Supports evidence based clinical practice by monitoring, evaluating, and contributing to the development of recommendations for change, within the context of ongoing program planning, consultation, and evaluation. Ph.D. in Psychology or equivalent from a university or school recognized by the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia (CHCPBC), with an approved pre-doctoral internship in clinical psychology.

Full practicing licensee as a Registered Psychologist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).
