Position Summary

We are currently looking for a relief full-time Mental Health Worker to join the Mental Health team based out of the Cranbrook MHSU Unit in beautiful Cranbrook, B.C. This relief position is until April 26, 2027 or return of the incumbent. Interior Health and our partner agencies provide a range of mental health and substance use services for all ages. We strive to ensure that our services are welcoming of all peoples, gender identities, cultures, ethnicities and backgrounds. Who are we looking for? We are seeking a compassionate and clinically skilled MH Worker with experience supporting individuals experiencing substance use and/or concurrent mental health and substance use concerns. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in biopsychosocial assessment, treatment planning, individual and group interventions, crisis/risk response, service coordination and transition planning. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound clinical judgment, knowledge of evidence-based substance use practices, and the ability to build therapeutic relationships while supporting client self-determination and recovery. Strong communication, collaboration, organization and adaptability are essential to working effectively within a centralized, regional and interdisciplinary service model.

This position provides client-focused Support Services primarily through its Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) and Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) programs. These services help individuals experiencing mental health or addiction challenges through their recovery journey in collaboration with the client and their multi-disciplinary health care team. The Worker functions as a member of the larger Hospitals & Communities Integrated Services (HCIS) health care team and as a member of a specific MHSU multi-disciplinary team whose purpose is to ensure that persons experiencing substance use problems/disorders or concurrent substance use and mental health problems have access to timely, responsive, evidence based treatment and clinical supports across the continuum of available services. The Worker provides assessment, treatment, service coordination, and as required, urgent response to clients who may also have serious functional impairment in the domains of physical health and personal, family, financial, occupational, and social life. The Worker functions as a primary clinician utilizing a variety of specialized treatment modalities/therapies for individuals, groups of clients and/or their families.   • Bachelor degree from an accredited educational institution in an Allied Health, Behavioural, or Social Science field relevant to the position.
  • Two years’ recent related experience in an alcohol and drug treatment environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Current valid B.C. driver’s license (Class 5). As part of your application, please ensure to:

Requirements
