About the role

The Licensed Practical Nurse works within an interprofessional team to assess, plan, and document client care while supporting families in achieving optimal health. They perform duties in accordance with BCCNM standards and Tla’amin Nation policies to ensure safe and competent care.

Casual Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse Hours of Work: On Call Worksite: Tla’amin Health Date Posted August 18, 2026 Close Date: Open until filled Salary: 35.97 per hour Reports to: Associate Health Director Programs Reference: #2026-08-18-LPN-CAS Internal/External Posting Practices within the context of a client and family centered care model and in accordance with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses and the vision and values of the organization. The LPN practices collaboratively as a member of an interprofessional team within Scope of Practice and Professional/Practice Standards of BCCNM for Licensed Practical Nurses and within applicable policies, guidelines and clinical practice documents. The LPN provides care to stable and/or predicable clients and families based on predictable outcomes and the needs/outcomes can be managed by following an established plan of care or under the direction/supervision/guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN/HCN) The successful applicant will be required to work in accordance with the BCGEU Collective Agreement as well as the applicable policies and procedures of Tla’amin Health and Tla’amin Nation. The successful applicant will be in good physical health. This position is open to applicants of all genders. Key Responsibilities Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Tla’amin laws, regulations, policies, practices, and procedures as directed by the Position. Maintains confidentiality as required pertaining to citizens, clients, employees, and general matters of the Nation.

The LPN works closely with the Primary Care team in direct care activities such as assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting client care.

The LPN will support clients and families to achieve and maintain optimal health.

Comprehensive knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client and family care Demonstrated ability in dealing with a variety of situations and responsibilities requiring initiative, creativity and professional judgment.

Knowledge and experience in providing culturally safe and competent care, specifically pertaining to Indigenous people and more specifically Tla’amin Nation.

Knowledge and practice within the standards dictated by the BCCNM for LPNs.

Broad knowledge of working with clients and families across the life span.

Broad knowledge of working with Medical, Surgical and Palliative clients.

Broad knowledge of Community resources and policies Demonstrated ability to apply decision-making and analytical skills.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interprofessional team.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Demonstrated ability to effectively deal with conflict situations Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work Physical ability to perform the duties of the position Knowledge and experience and basic computer programs (work, Microsoft outlook).

Demonstrated skill in clinical techniques and the use of applicable equipment and supplies Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques Demonstrated computer skills including the ability to effectively use a computerized client care information system

Qualifications

Graduate from a recognized program for Licensed Practical Nurses. Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Three years’ recent related experience working as a Licensed Practical Nurse providing care in the community of acute (medical/surgery/palliative, simple wound care) care setting or equivalent combination of training, education and experience. Excellent organization and time management skills Ability to work independently or as a team member Knowledge of office equipment Experience with Microsoft office package (work, excel, outlook, power point) First aid and CPR or willingness to obtain Class 5 Driver’s license and acceptable abstract Acceptable recent criminal record check with vulnerable sector check Working Conditions Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Occasional travel to attend meetings or training is required. Must possess a reliable vehicle and be able to use it for business-related travel.

Requirements

Candidates must be graduates of a recognized Licensed Practical Nurse program and hold current registration with the BCCNM. The role requires three years of recent related experience in community or acute care settings, along with valid First Aid and CPR certification.
