Interior Health is seeking an experienced and dynamic Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our Medical Laboratory Department at East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, BC. It is considered a regional referral site for selected testing and there are 30 Medical Laboratory Technologists, and 25 Medical Laboratory Assistants employed in various disciplines. Medical Laboratory Assistants perform a variety of duties such as taking blood and specimen samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, performing routine laboratory tests, distributing specimens to departments and outside Laboratories, operating related equipment, entering data into the Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and performing related clerical duties and ECG testing as required. This is a Relief Part Time (0.75) opportunity until the return of the incumbent. Shifts of work will be scheduled rotating days, evenings and nights. Requirements

Grade 12.

Successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program.

One year's recent, related experience (or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience).

Canadian Driver’s License as required by position.

Ability to type 25 WPM (5 minute invigilated typing test dated within the past 48 months from an approved institution; no self-administered online tests)
