Liaise, monitor, and coordinate services with mental health and substance use staff, medical professionals, and other relevant service providers

Position Summary

Interior Health is currently seeking a permanent part time (0.88 FTE) Life Skills Worker to join our Mental Health Substance Use (MHSU) Supervised Consumption Site team located at the Outreach Urban Health in Kelowna, B.C. Interior Health and our partner agencies provide a range of mental health and substance use services for all ages. We strive to ensure that our services are welcoming of all peoples, gender identities, cultures, ethnicities and backgrounds. Who are we looking for? We are looking for a candidate with experience dealing with supervised consumption services, has knowledge of harm reduction principals and has the ability to work with clients with complex mental health and substance use disorders. Previous experience with the marginalized, homeless population and overdose response would be considered an asset.

Assists clients with activities of daily living. Participates in activities to support skill development. Liaises, monitors and coordinates services with mental health and substance use staff, medical professionals, and other relevant service providers. Scheduling Information: Shift types are days and evenings. Shift times are from 12:00 to 22:00 hours. How will you create an impact?   • Grade 12
  • Certificate in a field relevant to the position (i.e.: community social services, rehabilitation)
  • One-year recent related experience working with individuals experiencing mental health and substance use problems; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Valid certificates in CPR, First Aid and Food Safe required.
  • Current valid B.C. Driver’s License. (Class 5) As part of your application, please ensure to:

  • Upload a copy of your Diploma/Certificate
  • Upload copy of your Food Safe Certificate (Must be valid prior to starting the position)

Requirements

Grade 12.

One-year recent related experience working with individuals experiencing mental health and substance use problems (or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience).

Valid certificates in CPR, First Aid and Food Safe required.

Current valid B.C.

Driver’s License (Class 5)
