Perform general and specific Environmental Services (Housekeeping) duties in assigned areas according to department standards of practice, policies, and procedures.
Clean and maintain patient rooms, hallways, kitchens, bathrooms, offices, etc..
Remove recyclables and garbage/waste from multiple locations.
Perform floor care within scope of authority and move furniture and other items as required.
Clean, disinfect, and maintain Operating Rooms (O.R.) according to O.R. standards.
Clean and maintain elevators and stairs.
Perform other duties in support of the Housekeeping function.
Perform cross-functional and other duties as assigned and/or required
Successful completion of a high school diploma or recognized equivalent.
One year of experience working in a housekeeping department.
Ability to use common housekeeping tools and equipment (e.g., vacuum, dry mop, auto scrubber, polisher).
Ability to meet physical demands including standing, sweeping, pushing/pulling carts, reaching, and lifting up to 15 kg.
Knowledge of WHMIS, chemicals, and dilution rates.
Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and other relevant legislation.
Familiarity with handling different types of wastes throughout the health centre.
Compliance with Body Substance Precaution provisions.
Compliance with sanitary and infection control requirements.
Compliance with confidentiality requirements under RVH Privacy Policy.
Demonstrated ability to be well organized, motivated, and able to handle a constant and varied workload while adjusting priorities.
Client service oriented; ability to work with diverse backgrounds.
Ability to perform duties professionally and courteously and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines.
Exercise initiative and good judgment; ability to multi-task and work independently
