The Opportunity Maamwesying North Shore Community Health Services provides primary health care, traditional healing, mental wellness and addictions, home and community support services, and health promotion services to community members across the seven First Nations of the Mamaweswen North Shore Tribal Council.

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Home Care Nurse (RPN) to join our Home and Community Support Services team to provide in-home nursing services to Batchewana First Nation, Garden River First Nation and Thessalon First Nation.

The primary objective of this role is to provide comprehensive nursing care in the community setting that assists clients in achieving optimum health and quality of life, while supporting them to remain safely and independently in their homes for as long as possible.

What You Bring Qualifications & Experience Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario Minimum two (2) years of nursing experience in a hospital, physician’s office, or in-home clinical care setting Full-scope RPN skills required, including: IV therapy Wound care Ostomy care Tube feeding Palliative care Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as required Proficiency with electronic medical record systems Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain within 3 months Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to respond effectively to emergency situations Indigenous cultural competency training certification (or willingness to obtain) Experience working with older adults in a community setting is considered an asset Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate health teaching initiatives Clear vulnerable sector criminal reference check as a condition of employment Access to a reliable personal vehicle Valid driver’s license What Our Team Members Are Saying “Since starting here, I have been truly blown away by the warmth and kindness that everyone has shown me.

We are a leader in First Nation health care with a strong foundation rooted in Indigenous Health in Indigenous Hands. We provide accessible, quality, culturally safe, and holistic health services that support and enhance the wellness of individuals, families, and communities. We work in partnership with 11 First Nation communities in the delivery of primary care, traditional healing, mental wellness and addictions services, home and community support services, and health promotion programming. Maamwesying Ontario Health Team has also been recognized by the Ministry of Health as Ontario’s first Indigenous-led Ontario Health Team. What to expect? Given the traditional practices of Indigenous people, from time-to-time exposure to smoke from the burning of sacred medicines such as tobacco, sweet grass, sage or cedar may occur. Requirements

Must be a Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the CNO with at least two years of clinical experience. Requires full-scope RPN skills, a valid driver's license, a reliable vehicle, and a clear vulnerable sector criminal reference check.
