Reduce the acquisition of healthcare-associated infections by developing standards and assisting in monitoring infection control measures across acute, long-term care, and community settings within IH.
Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of infection control initiatives using quality improvement methodologies and evidence-informed practice.
Use knowledge of infectious disease processes, epidemiology and microbiology, surveillance, routine practices, and additional precautions.
Function as a consultant, mentor, and educator in infection prevention and control for IH staff, visitors, volunteers, and others.
Promote excellence in client-centered care through collaborative planning and organizing of activities necessary to meet IPAC standards in assigned departments, programs, facilities, and sites.

Join our innovative and growing team at Kelowna General Hospital as a Registered Nurse Infection Control Practitioner. We are seeking a Registered Nurse with recent acute or long-term care experience, including expertise in infection prevention and control processes such as outbreak management, point-of-care risk assessments, routine practices, and additional precautions. Candidates must have completed, or be enrolled in, an IPAC Canada-endorsed Infection Prevention and Control course. This relief full-time opportunity offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on patient and staff safety while working within a collaborative and supportive healthcare team. This position is available until November 22, 2027, or the return of the incumbent. Shift Times: Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:00.
Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
Three (3) years’ recent related clinical experience in an acute or long-term care setting, including two (2) years’ recent experience working directly with infection control processes (outbreak management, point of care risk assessment, routine practices, additional precautions).
Completion of, or enrollment in, an IPAC Canada endorsed Infection Prevention and Control course (e.g., Centennial College, Queen’s University, UBC IPAC certificate, Bay River College) or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Valid Class 5 vehicle license required.
