The Kinship Care Worker develops, supports, and supervises kinship care resources for children and families. They provide alternative care options, individual and group programming, and participate in ongoing service delivery evaluation.
Requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work or a related social services degree with 2 to 5 years of relevant experience. A valid Manitoba driver's license, personal vehicle, and various security clearances are mandatory.
Demonstrated understanding of Métis culture and communities Good understanding of issues relating to the placement of children in alternate placement contexts and kinship placements Strong mediation and conflict resolution skills Ability to be flexible with hours of work Skills to deliver programs and support services to facilitate reunification Ability to develop, support and license kinship care placement resources for children Demonstrated ability to implement an inclusive model of care with a focus on the children, youth and their families SAFE Home Study certification an asset Experience with behavioural plans Ability to build effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. Demonstrated research skills and communication skills Ability to maintain highly sensitive and confidential information Prior to commencing employment, the successful applicant will be asked to provide satisfactory results of a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, a Child Abuse Registry Check, Prior Contact Check and a Driver’s Abstract upon hire at their own expense. A valid Manitoba driver’s license and the use of a personal vehicle are requisites as travel within and outside the city are required.
