Elder Catherine Charles Long-term Care Home is responsible for the provision of quality care to clients by providing personal care and respite assistance to clients based on their assessed needs. This is a 24 – hour, 365 days’ facility that provides level 1, 2 and 3 care to residents admitted into the facility. The main goals are to provide direct care and monitor residents’ health conditions.
Working 12-hour shifts with a rotating schedule, Personal Care Workers support and supervise individuals with physical abilities; use a team approach to plan, organize and supervise daily activities; prepare and serve meals as planned; administer prescribed medications;
Support and supervise elderly individuals; Use a team approach to plan, organize and supervise daily activities, recreational and other services; Prepare and serve meals as planned; Assess needs of residents on an on-going basis; Maintain sanitation of Long-term Care Home; 12- hour shift with rotating schedule (Overtime may be required); Other duties as assigned by supervisor;
Continuing Care Aide Certificate, Personal Care Worker Certificate or Home Health Aide certificate required; Minimum grade 12 or equivalent; Certified First Aide & CPR and Safe Food Handling Certificate required or willing to obtain; Must be able to work independently and collaboratively with the Group home team, and demonstrate strong organizational skills; Strong Written and verbal communication; Previous home care or childcare experience is an asset; Experience working with First Nations Communities is an asset; Must Possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License; Ability to speak/understand Cree is a definite asset;
Requires a certificate in Continuing Care, Personal Care, or Home Health Aide, along with a minimum of grade 12 education. Candidates must hold First Aid, CPR, and Safe Food Handling certifications and possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License.
