The Public Health Program is located at the Jeannie Bird Clinic in La Ronge. However, this position will be required to travel to outlying LLRIB communities to provide public health programming to clients.
The Public Nurses will use his/her assessment and nursing skills to effectively assist the clients to maintain an optimal level of health; Utilize Assessment, educating, & nursing skills to carry out Public Health Nursing programming;
Educating clients in the prenatal and postnatal period’s in-group or individual settings; Carrying out comprehensive health program in the schools; Assessing the needs of band members, making necessary referrals and assisting families; Pre and postnatal care; Communicable Disease Control & Tuberculosis programming; Providing direct care by assessing client health needs, planning care, implementing interventions & evaluating outcomes; Promote healthy lifestyles & health promotion; Act as a client advocate & a liaison between LLRIBHS & other agencies;
Minimum Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, must be in good standing and registered with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS); Previous Public Health and/or Acute Care experience is an asset; Experience working with First Nations Communities is an asset; Ability to speak/or understand Cree is a definite asset; Ability to work as a team member; Ability to travel to Outlying communities; Must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License; Excellent problem solving & organizational skills; Excellent interpersonal & public relations skills; Proficient computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office; Must be able to work independently and be self-directed;
Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and be registered with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan. A valid Class 5 Driver's License is required for travel to outlying communities.
