Interior Health is seeking an experienced and dynamic Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our Medical Laboratory Department at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, BC.   • Competitive wages About the Job The Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) Laboratory strives to provide safe, convenient, respectful and accessible laboratory services to our patients. Programs and services include chemistry, hematology, microbiology, histopathology, cytology, and transfusion medicine. RIH is a tertiary hospital and a 24/7 operation with state of the art equipment, acting as a regional referral site. Medical Laboratory Assistants perform a variety of duties such as taking blood and specimen samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, distributing specimens to departments and outside Labs, operating related equipment, entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and performing related clerical duties as required. This is a Permanent Part Time (0.74) opportunity. Shifts of work will be scheduled nights rotating from 23:00 to 07:00, 23:15 to 07:15 hours.   • Grade 12, successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program, plus one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Canadian Driver’s License as required by position
  • Ability to type 25 WPM *5 minute invigilated typing test dated within the past 48 months from an approved institution. Please note we do not accept self-administered online tests*

Requirements

Grade 12 plus successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program. One year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Canadian Driver’s License as required by position. Ability to type 25 WPM (with a 5 minute invigilated typing test dated within the past 48 months from an approved institution; no self-administered online tests)
