Job description

  • Connective is a dynamic non-profit organization that provides innovative programming in the social services sector.

  • ROLE PURPOSE This position will provide assistive outreach support to client(s) referred to Connective by our funders to enable their adjustment to, and success with life in the community.
  • You will work in the Community with individuals with mental health and substance abuse challenges to support them with their mental health, addiction challenges, provide them access to more community supports and many more resources.
  • We are currently recruiting for Casual Outreach Workers to join our team: Casual employees must be available for at least 15 shifts per month in during the hours of Monday to Saturday: 0900 to 1700.
  • If you are working full-time, or if you are a full-time student, we ask you for 10 shifts per month (this is subject to employer or enrollment proof).
  • These positions require the ability to work flexible hours.

  • Committed Living Wage Employer 2022 & 2023 Canadian Nonprofit Employer of Choice Aware from NEOC 2023 High-Performance Culture Award from SupportingLines Career and personal development, with the ability to grow in a diverse range of programs and departments Access to a range of staff mental health supports, including an in-house counsellor, Employee Family Assistance Program, and Critical Incidents Stress Management Access to On-Demand Pay to withdraw earned wages before payday Connective is part of a portability program where employees moving from a CSSEA-member employer to Connective will port their service hours for vacation and wage purposes (within last 12 months) KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Receives referrals from funders Works with the client, researches background material, and seeks the input of other professionals and family members, to provide the assessment that will ascertain needs and postulate intervention possibilities Works with the client to consider issues and creates a mutually agreed intervention and support plan that has measurable short and long-term goals Ensures issues of daily living, including but not limited to housing, nutrition, clothing, hygiene, leisure lifestyle and access, employment, and education are addressed in this plan Ensures the client’s ongoing legal, mental, and physical health issues are addressed in the plan When and as needed, provides a wide range of interventions to enable the client to address and accomplish the established goals Interacts with other professionals, family members, and organizations to ensure services, admissions, and treatments are in the client’s interest and supportive of the long-term goals On the client’s behalf, is a resource to other professionals, including but not limited to the courts, probation services, and community and institutional psychiatric services Maintains extensive records and case notes in accord with Community Living British Columbia policies and standards Completes monthly progress reports Participates in staff and resident/staff meetings as instructed by the Program Manager Other duties as subsequently negotiated EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS Diploma or Certificate in Social Services or a relevant field with one year of related experience Counselling experience in the appropriate field and demonstrate a clear ability to respond well in crisis situations Experience with clients with a history of conflict with the law, developmental disabilities and/or spectrum disorders, interaction with social agencies and experiencing psychiatric/personality disorders Experienced with working with individuals with active substance abuse challenges and willingness to apply harm reduction approaches Understanding of providing service to people with different learning abilities Extensive knowledge of community services in Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley as they relate to persons with psychiatric involvement Experience in assessment, case/care plan development and implementation Demonstrated an ability to deal with potential violence Demonstrated an ability to develop programs tailored to the particular diverse needs of the individual Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

BC Class 5 driver’s license Personal transportation that is in good repair, insured for business up to $1,000,000 for liability, and which can be used to transport clients Ability to successfully complete a Criminal Records Check Current WorkSafe Approved Emergency First Aid Certificate Proof of vaccination for communicable diseases may be required as mandated by Government, Health Authority, and/or funder requirements. COMPENSATION As Connective is a unionized environment, the starting wage is $27.54. Plus, benefits enrollment as per the Collective Agreement.

Important

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada, observe their weekly hours limit if under a temporary or study visa, and provide proof of eligibility if selected for the role.
