The Clinical Liaison Nurse follows up with healthcare providers regarding positive STBBI tests and collects data for case management and surveillance. They prioritize reports, inform Public Health Nurses of urgent cases, and manage out-of-region cases through appropriate jurisdictions.
Requires a graduate of an approved Registered Nursing program with at least two years of recent primary care or community health nursing experience. Must maintain registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba and possess strong computer and data entry skills.

Pensionable Salary Enhancement - Nurses in eligible classifications may be eligible to earn an additional $5.95/hour when working full-time hours within a prescribed six-month reporting period. (Effective April 1, 2025 – March 31st 2027.) Position Overview The CLN reports to the Manager, Health Services and is an integral member of the team. The CLN: receives information about then follows up with health care providers regarding situations where people have tested positive for, or been named as contacts to STBBIs; collects pertinent information necessary for case management, surveillance and evaluation; participates in completion of communicable disease investigations by gathering and documenting information about contacts from health care providers and their support staff; determines the priority of each report (e.g., report of disease in a child, untreated infection); informs the Public Health Nurses of cases requiring follow-up and provides health care providers with information about management of STBBIs. The CLN manages ‘out of region’ STBBI cases tested within the Winnipeg health region; this may include referring public health management to other jurisdictions through Manitoba Health and Healthy Living. Experience Minimum two years of recent primary care or community health nursing experience required.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing education program required. Competency in data entry and computer skills required. Clinical knowledge of Sexually Transmitted and Blood-borne Infections (STBBIs) and of laboratory tests and treatments is an asset.
Certification/Licensure/Registration Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM). Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.

Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA)/Registered Psychiatric Nurses Act. Regional/Facility/Unit policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines. Nursing care knowledge related to clinical area. Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions) and other legislated acts. Roles and responsibilities of members of the healthcare team. Principles of delegation. Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills. Verbal and written fluency in French is an asset. Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values. Demonstrated critical thinking/problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize care for an individual patient or group of patients. Ability to respond to a variety of simultaneous demands. Ability to recognize and pursue self-development opportunities. Physical Requirements Physically capable of communicating effectively on the telephone for entire shifts. Physically capable of entering data into health records for entire shifts. Subject to Immunization and Tuberculin testing as per WRHA policy.
