Registered Practical Nurse

As a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, the Registered Practical Nurse provides safe, empathetic, and client-centered Maternal & Newborn nursing care to the full scope of practice for Registered Practical Nurses. This position offers a unique mix of patient populations that allows for diversity and the ability to use assessment and technical skills on an ongoing basis.

• Current Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses as a Registered Practical Nurse 2.
• Current B.C.L.S. required 3.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) Certificate 4.
• Breastfeeding Certificate Program (or equivalent) 5.
• Maternal Newborn Nursing Certificate (Perinatal 1&2 course) completed or in progress 6.
• Recent obstetrical experience including, post-partum care, care of newborn and experience assisting with breast feeding 7.
• Recent experience caring for women and their families, post-operatively in all aspects of Women’s Health 8.
• Demonstrated ability to interact with patients, families, and co-workers in an effective, professional, positive caring manner.

• Demonstrated proficiency in working with patients, families, peers, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams in a effective, professional, caring manner 10.
• Demonstrated excellent problem-solving and communication skills, both written and verbal 11.
• Demonstrated leadership ability and organizational skills, ongoing professional development 12.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
