Registered Nurse

As a member of this specialty unit providing critical care services, the PACU Registered Nurse is responsible for the planning, implementation and assessment of post-anaesthetic patient care.

• 1.
• Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse 2.
• Current BCLS and ACLS certification 3.
• Recent (within last 2 years) ECG interpretation experience 4.
• Peri-anaesthesia Nursing Course 5.
• Recent (within the last 2 years) experience in surgical nursing 6.
• Current certificate in vascular access certification 7.
• Demonstrated knowledge of anaesthetic techniques and procedures and their implications for nursing assessment and practice 8.
• Demonstrated knowledge of post-anaesthesia assessment and management of adults, including airway management, invasive cardiac monitoring, pain management and invasive pressure line monitoring 9.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, high volume, patient care environment 9.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development and continuing education 10.
• Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills 11.
• Subject to CPO examination
