The Sonographer performs and evaluates various ultrasound examinations and assists doctors with ultrasound-guided procedures. They are responsible for reporting findings to support accurate diagnoses and maintaining ultrasound equipment.
Candidates must have an accredited degree or post-diploma in Ultrasound and be certified in good standing with the CMRITO. A minimum of 3 years of experience in specialized ultrasound scanning is required.
Role Summary The Sonographer is responsible for performing and evaluating ultrasound examinations for various medical purposes. This role involves assisting doctors in ultrasound-guided procedures, providing accurate diagnoses by reporting and reviewing findings. The Sonographer will operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, actively contribute to team building, and demonstrate the ability to work independently.
Role Responsibilities ● Assist doctors in ultrasound-guided procedures (e.g., son hysterograms) ● Provide optimum, patient-centered care in a professional and respectful manner ● Report, review, and record findings from ultrasound scans to support accurate diagnoses ● Collaborate with physicians regarding ultrasound results ● Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment; participate in Quality Control and Quality Assurance tests ● Perform and assess ultrasound examinations (Transabdominal and Transvaginal) for infertility patients, 1st-trimester pregnancy evaluation, endovaginal scan, follicular monitoring, obstetrical scanning (early pregnancy), pelvic ultrasound for gynecology patients ● Actively participate in team building concepts and development of departmental goals ● Work independently without supervision ● Perform other duties as assigned
Formal Education or Equivalent: ● Completion of an accredited degree or post-diploma Ultrasound program (or recognized equivalent) ● Certification with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) in good standing Experience ● Minimum 3 years of experience performing and assessing ultrasound examinations ● Proven proficiency in: transabdominal and transvaginal scanning, son hysterograms, endovaginally scans, follicular monitoring, early pregnancy obstetric scanning, and gynecologic pelvic ultrasounds
