Strides Toronto Support Services (“Strides Toronto”) Strides Toronto is a multi-service agency supporting infants, children, youth and young adults from birth to age 29, and their families, primarily across east Toronto. We offer community-based, residential and treatment programs—including mental health counselling, autism services, early intervention, day treatment, education, outreach and community support—using a client-centered, evidence-informed approach. Since 2015, Strides Toronto has served as Toronto’s Lead Agency for Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health, partnering with 21 core service providers to provide system leadership, citywide planning, coordinated service delivery and program alignment. About the Role

This is an existing vacancy for a part-time contract Individual and Family Therapist (IFT) for the Responsive Outreach Community Support (ROCKS) project. The IFT provides psychoeducation and therapeutic support to survivors of trauma in order to reduce trauma symptoms and improve the client’s overall wellbeing. The IFT supports a client’s re-integration into healthy relationships and community by working with them to meet their goals.

The IFT provides long-term therapeutic support to survivors of domestic sex trafficking and those who identify as working in the sex trade by choice, circumstance, or coercion. As part of the ROCKS project, the IFT supports the development and delivery of human trafficking prevention workshops.

• What you will do
• Support survivors of human trafficking and their families overcome their psychological and psychosocial trauma through the provision of a range of clinically based services that are trauma-informed, culturally affirming and use a harm reduction and a sex positive lens.
• Engage in professional development activities and document client information and clinical formulations as required by program, organization, and policy standards.
• Liaise with community partners and other service providers to better meet the client’s needs.
• Participate in and further organizational wide initiatives.
• Develop, plan, and implement workshops, programs, and skill development groups internally and within the community pertaining to domestic human trafficking and trauma informed care.

The “must haves”

• The following education, professional memberships and knowledge are a requirement for this role:
• MSW or Master’s level equivalency in Counselling/ Therapy.
• Registered in a regulatory body such as Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) or College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
• Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and principles, harm reduction, sex positivity.
• Knowledge of therapeutic modalities – specifically trauma-informed modalities (DBT, Narrative, Mindfulness etc.).
• Awareness of the role of inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA) in the workplace and within the community being served by the position.
• An understanding of anti-black racism, anti-oppressive/anti-racism perspective in the context of the social determinants of health.
• Ability to recognize and identify situations where incidents of imbalance of power and privilege may occur and can result in possible negative impacts.

The ‘nice to haves’

While not required, preference will be given to candidates with the following

• Lived experience as a member of Black/racialized/Indigenous/2SLGBTQIA/marginalized communities would be an asset.
• Functional computer and client information system knowledge.
• Fluency in another language(s), including sign language.
