SGEU - Saskatchewan Cancer Agency City/Town: Regina Facility: SCA - Population Health Department: Population Health Screening Program for Colorectal Cancer Type: Full-time temporary Expected Start Date: June 8th, 2026 Expected End Date: June 11th, 2027 FTE: 1 Shift Information: Days Number of Hours per Rotation: In a 3 week rotation : 14 shift(s) of 7.77 hours Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band 8, $42.04 to $52.44 (6 step range) GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY: The Navigator – Screening Program for Colorectal Cancer (SPCRC) is responsible for the coordination, development, implementation, administration, evaluation, and delivery of the navigation component of the Colorectal Screening Program. In collaboration with the Saskatchewan Health Authority/Endoscopy program staff, family physicians and community partners, the Navigator acts as a clinical resource, providing support, information and education to promote coordination and continuity of care in matters related to the Colorectal Screening Program. This position reports to the Manager of Population Health.
Education: Bachelor Degree Gastroenterology nursing certification is an asset Oncology nursing certification is an asset Experience: Five (5) years’ experience working in nursing. Gastroenterology-related experience working with patients undergoing GI diagnostic procedures is an asset Experience related to leadership, patient education, program development and evaluation is an asset.
Licensed with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA).
Advanced patient assessment skills with the ability to complete initial and ongoing client assessments (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) and provide best client care through appropriate/prescribed technical, therapeutic and safety interventions. Ability to interpret detailed information and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Considerable judgment, problem solving ability and critical thinking skills is required to identify, analyze and define problems and select the most appropriate solution to rectify them. Ability to integrate relevant evidence-based best practice as standard performance within the program. Ability to teach patients over the telephone and in person. Ability to teach and present information to persons over whom the incumbent may have no direct authority. Human relations skills are required to develop formal relationships with clients to navigate them through to a colonoscopy and through the health system Demonstrated ability and willingness to work collaboratively and effectively with SCA staff members and/or external partners. Demonstrated leadership skills required to lead Agency projects/committees. Ability to manage multiple tasks in various stages of completion according to priorities. Competent in the use of computers and Microsoft applications. Maintain confidentiality. Knowledge of culturally responsive care for First Nations and Métis people.
