Position Summary
This role is intended to support Indigenous clients and programs.

Above and Beyond Care Services Inc. is a dedicated Community Disability Services Worker (CDSW) to support individuals with disabilities in achieving personal goals, fostering relationships, and encouraging community involvement.
This front-line role plays a vital part in helping individuals lead fulfilling, independent lives.
The CDSW will help clients maintain their independence and improve their quality of life while respecting their dignity and personal preferences.
Scope of Practice
This is a non-regulated position. Your scope of practice is defined by the responsibilities outlined in this job description and the ABCS Code of Ethics. You will work within these boundaries to help realize the organization’s mission, values, and goals.

Care: Assist clients with daily hygiene routines, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.

Assistance: Administer medications as prescribed or remind clients to take their medication.

Support: Help clients with meal preparation, feeding, housekeeping, and laundry.
Mobility
Assistance: Support clients with mobility, including walking, using assistive devices, or transferring between beds, chairs, and vehicles.
Companionship: Provide emotional support, engage clients in meaningful activities, and foster social interactions.
Transportation: Assist clients with errands, appointments, and outings as needed.
Health
Monitoring: Observe and report changes in the client’s physical, mental, or emotional condition to supervisors or family members.
Safety
Assurance: Ensure a safe and clean environment by minimizing hazards and following safety protocols.
Implement and carry out person-centered plans to support personal development, behavior management, and/or personal care.
Understand and follow Individual Behavioral Support Plans, ISP Goals, Functional Assessments, and Risk Assessments.
Essential Functions
Assist with daily living skills, hygiene, grooming, and medication administration.
Plan, organize, and implement skill-building activities.
Maintain documentation, program charts, and finance sheets.
Support dietary needs following the Canada Food Guide, including meal preparation and clean-up.
Perform cleaning duties, ensuring the individual’s personal and common spaces are hygienic.
Maintain confidentiality of all personal information.
And any other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
Certification in First Aid and CPR (required).
Personal Support Worker (PSW), Health Care Aide (HCA), or equivalent certification, preferred.
Valid driver’s license (Class 5).

Experience
Previous caregiving experience is preferred.
Experience working with individuals with disabilities, seniors, or chronic illnesses is an asset.

Contractor Engagement Details
Please note that this position is structured as a contractor relationship.
Business Operations: As a contractor, you are responsible for managing your own business operations, taxes, and business-related expenses.
Insurance: Proof of adequate liability insurance must be provided upon engagement.
Benefits: Contractors are not eligible for employee benefits, including paid leave, health insurance, pension contributions, overtime pay, or statutory holiday pay.
