The technologist is responsible for performing routine laboratory procedures and tests to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. They must ensure accurate sample identification, maintain laboratory equipment, and adhere to quality control standards.
Candidates must be registered as a Medical Laboratory Technologist with CSMLS and CMLTM. The role requires experience in chemistry specimen processing and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
MEDICAL LABORATORY Technologist INTERNAL CLOSING DATE: Thursday, April 30, 2026 LOCATIONS: King Edward 100-830 King Edward Street CLASSIFICATION: Part Time, Permanent DEPARTMENT: Chemistry COMPENSATION: As per Collective Agreement WORKING SCHEDULE: Monday 16:30 to 12:30 am Friday 9:00 to 16:30 Saturday 10:30 to 18:00 Job Summary As a General Duty Technologist, you will be responsible for the performance and release of various laboratory tests following set processes and procedures, all in keeping with Dynacare’s mission and values.
Performs a variety of routine laboratory procedures to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Responsible for ensuring sample identification and preparation for testing are correct before commencing tests. Performs scheduled tests and measurements using a variety of manual and automated procedures. Sets up and adjusts laboratory equipment, prepares standard and reagents. Monitors supplies and notifies Charge technologist of shortages. Ensures that Quality Control checks are run and reviewed when testing. Participates in all internal and external quality control programs. Performs routine maintenance of laboratory equipment. Maintains confidential and accuracy of appropriate documents. Other duties as required. SKILLED KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge Medical Laboratory Technologist registered in good standing with and CSMLS & CMLTM. Experience working in Chemistry preferred Technical Skills Knowledge of Quality Control documentation and procedures. Knowledge of Chemistry specimen processing. Social Processing Skills Ability to multitask and work in a team environment. Attention to detail and organizational skills are essential. Ability to function in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently. Excellent communication skills Experience in word processing preferred. Ability to instruct new employees in specimen processing specific to Chemistry. ***Please refer to Article 2 and 7 of the Collective Agreement regarding temporary positions, job postings, promotions and transfers***
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
