The counsellor provides professional one-to-one addiction support, conducts risk assessments, and develops individualized treatment plans for adult clients. Additionally, they facilitate community wellness programs and collaborate with internal and external service providers to support recovery.
Candidates must hold a college or university degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field and possess at least three years of addiction-specific clinical experience. A valid Ontario Class G driver's license and relevant certifications such as CPR and First Aid are also required.
Sagamok Anishnawbek is seeking a dedicated and culturally grounded Mental Health & Addictions Counsellor to join the Community Wellness Department.
This position works primarily with adult clients experiencing substance use and addiction-related challenges, supporting individuals through all stages of recovery including treatment, detox, aftercare, and abstinence. The Counsellor also contributes to the development and delivery of treatment, prevention, and wellness programs that promote physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing across the community.

Work will be performed primarily within Sagamok Anishnawbek facilities, with travel required for meetings, workshops, and home visits within the community.
