The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for processing blood samples and other laboratory specimens, accurately entering requisitions and results in a timely manner while providing excellent customer service to patients. Key duties include obtaining quality blood samples using venipuncture techniques, sorting specimens, performing ECGs, and ensuring all documentation adheres to established protocols.
Candidates must be CSMLS or BCSLS certified, or a graduate of a BCSLS accredited MLA program or equivalent. Alternatively, applicants with a Bachelor's degree in a related scientific discipline or nursing, or an international MLA/MLT qualification, must possess a minimum of one year of patient-facing phlebotomy experience. Strong customer focus, phlebotomy skill, and proficiency in English are essential.

As a Laboratory Assistant - LHSC (Float), you are responsible for processing blood samples and other laboratory specimens, entering requisitions and results accurately – all in a timely manner. You also play an important role in providing customer service to create the best possible patient experience. These can be stressful situations for patients, and you need to display empathy, care, and kindness. Testing results are often critical for patients, and you are there to help and make an impact on their lives.

$27.00-$30.75 per hour The hiring pay range has been established; however, the final pay offer will be determined by taking into consideration various factors including but not limited to, level of experience and education requirements.
