Job Description
The Integrated Community Access Program is seeking a full-time Community Mental Health Nurse to provide mental health nursing services to individuals with serious mental illness- in particular those individuals diagnosed with psychosis.
As a key member of the outreach team, you will provide clinical assessment and treatment, group facilitation, consultative and educational services to clients, families, community providers, referral sources and other community partners. You will have demonstrated initiative and creative approaches to challenging situations and will be willing to work collaboratively as this program continues to work towards specialized evidence-based services in a learning environment. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in service redesign and implementation of new services.
Requirements
- The successful candidate must be registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing
- Current CPR-HCP
- Knowledge and experience working with a seriously mentally ill, complex presentation outpatient population particularly those individuals diagnosed with psychosis.
- 3-5 years of recent psychiatric nursing experience in a mental health facility or service
- Community mental health service provision experience
- Candidate must work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Training and certification in Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT) for this population
- Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian Standards for Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing, and relevant policies and legislation, such as the Mental Health Act and PHIPA is required
- Maintain reflective practice standards as described by the CNO
- knowledge and experience of the challenges involved in community reintegration of long-stay psychiatric inpatients
- Current driver’s license and use of a car is required
- Must have the ability to perform the physical demands of the position
- BScN preferred
- Training and/or experience in facilitating psychoeducational groups
- CNA certification in psychiatric/mental health nursing is an asset
- Experience with presentations is an asset.
- The candidate will have demonstrated excellent interpersonal and effective oral/written communication skills
- The ability to work with clients of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds and proficiency in a second language is considered an asset
