The Rehab Worker delivers gender-specific, trauma-informed care to individuals experiencing homelessness, mental illness, and addictions. They utilize structured, client-centered interventions to support community integration and functional improvement.

Status: Casual

This is a casual position. As such, there is no specific or guaranteed schedule associated with the position. Shifts are offered on an as-needed basis, in accordance with operational requirements and the applicable Collective Agreement. Employees may be contacted to fill available shifts based on their availability and operational needs.

Salary Range

$33.46 - $35.31

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Rehab Worker is responsible for the delivery of gender specific, trauma- informed care for people who may have or have experienced homelessness; severe addictions, mental illness, trauma, family, cultural and / or community disconnection, involvement with the criminal justice, physical health and behavioral issues. The Rehab Worker will use graduated and structured client-centered interventions to help clients with transition to living in the community, integrating the principles of psychosocial rehabilitation, harm reduction, motivational enhancement, a strength-based framework, gender centered relational care, trauma-informed care and other evidence-based best practices that improve clients’ ability to function in all aspects of life.

  • Diploma in Community Social Service
  • Recent, related experience of two years Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience or other qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work
  • Ability to obtain the following upon hire:
  • Certificates in First Aid + CPR
  • WHMIS
  • Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Clearance
  • TB Clearance (done within past 6 months)
  • Foodsafe

Knowledge and Abilities

Ability to work with people with a mental illness.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.

Ability to operate related equipment.

Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a diploma in Community Social Service and possess at least two years of recent, related experience. Additionally, applicants must be able to obtain certifications in First Aid, CPR, WHMIS, and maintain a clean criminal record.
