BRIDGE - Direct Support Worker (Full-Time Term)

New Directions is a social service agency offering a wide range of resources and services that foster people’s hopes and dreams in their communities.

New Directions’ Bridge Services for Children and Families offers specialized clinical and home resources to children and youth living with disabilities who have sensory, emotional, behavioral and/or medical needs and their families.

Position Details

• Tuesday to Saturday, 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., The schedule may change based on program needs.

Job Responsibilities include

• (including, but not limited to)
• Establish meaningful, caring, and respectful relationships with children, youth and their families
• Serve as a positive role model for children and their families
• Provide care in a community and residential setting
• Provide medical, emotional, environmental, physical and behavioral support
• Participate in programming to meet the individual goals of children and youth
• Participate in various recreational and physical activities with children and youth
• Cooking, house cleaning, yard work and other household maintenance duties
• Provide assistance with personal care routines such as lifts, transfers, personal hygiene, and nutrition support
• Complete all required documentation effectively

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in a social services field (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Disability and Community Support, or a related discipline), with experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• A minimum of two years' experience in direct service roles within the disability services field (or a related field), with at least six months of supervisory experience preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Basic understanding of financial management and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong decision-making, problem-solving, crisis management, and conflict resolution skills.
• Proven leadership ability within a team environment, demonstrated through respect, professionalism, and cultural awareness.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work within a person-centered framework.
• Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Current First Aid/CPR and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification.
• Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) is considered an asset.

The salary range for this full-time one-year term 80-hour bi-weekly position is $17.3239 to $23.3888 per hour (equivalent to $36,033.71 to $48,468.70), dependent upon education and/or experience. A full benefits package (which includes Health and Dental Benefits, Long Term Disability Benefits, and a Pension Plan) is provided to permanent full-time staff.

The successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Record and Adult/Child Abuse Registry Checks; and must supply a current driver’s abstract when a Driver’s License is required.
