In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position. Reports to the Nurse Manager, Department Head, or designate. Plans and provides direct nursing care to patients/residents in the hospital or in the community in accordance with the unit/program philosophy, competency guidelines, policies, and the BCCNM Standards for Nursing Practice in British Columbia.
Registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing registered nurse.
Minimum two years of recent critical care nursing experience or completion of an accredited critical care course.
Demonstrated arrhythmia interpretation ability, evidenced by a minimum 75% score on the VIHA ECG Challenge exam.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to organize workload and set priorities.
Ability to work effectively with patients, families, physicians, coworkers, and external contacts.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support and continuous renal replacement therapy experience are assets.
Criminal record check required for professional registration
